So, scrap your LO & link us back to it in the comments so you can have the chance to win some yummy La goodies! I’ll leave you w/my LO so you can get to scrappin!

Write a Letter

October 20th, 2008

Hey scrappers :) This is Tania, driving my first blog post here at La’s site. But before I get into this week’s challenge, let’s give a shout out to this week’s winner!

Congrats meganmecrazy! You’re layout We Go Together is this week’s winner! Go and give her some love!!

Send a private message to Lauren at SSD with a product of your choice from her store to claim your prize :)

Okay, so onto this week’s challenge. I often find that people either love or hate journaling. I used to hate it, but I resolved to use more words on my pages, and one way I’ve found that I can get it done, is by writing as if I’m writing letter to someone. It gets my thoughts out and I’ve even used this technique as a form of scrap therapy, knowing that person would never see it, I just needed to get it out.

So that’s your challenge, let’s do a page with a focus on journaling, Write a Letter to a Loved One, it can be something they will read someday, or something you never intend for them to read at all, just give a good shot at the journaling. Picture not required.

**

Here’s mine.

Journaling, in case you can’t see it.
I have been amazed by your growth this last year. I am overwhelmed with my pride. I went to your first parent- teachers conference two weeks before your birthday, and Mrs. Z told me you are every teachers’ dream student! You show true leadership, kindness, enthusiasm, interest, and intelligence. I’ve known this all along, but now that you are grown, everyone else gets to know it also! These are crazy times JT, the economy is as bad as it has ever been in my lifetime, our country has grown divided and a little scary. But there is HOPE and that hope is in you and your generation. When you show compassion and intelligence and dedication, I know inside I am doing something right and that is what keeps me going. You me going…

I used La’s brand new Stormy Weather kit.

**

Elizabeth got me all choked up with this one, gorgeous!

Her journaling: Mom and Dad,

I know this will be a very hard day for us all, probably the hardest since Jeff’s been gone. But just because Jeff’s gone it’s no reason to stop celebrating his “BIRTH” day. He may never get another year older and he’ll always live in our hearts as the lean rugged 44 year old that he was, October 21st was still the day that he graced this world (and our hearts) with his presence and that day needs to be remembered and celebrated!

We all love you both so much and we all hurt daily for the missing piece of our family, but know that we are always thinking of Jeff and missing him dearly and even though he was taken from us so quickly in body: his heart, his spirit and his memories will stay with us a life time!!

We Love You!!

Now, on to this week’s challenge!  Blocking is hot these days, and I have a blocking template for you to play with.  I made this layout for Shannon’s (ZaCola3) Recipe Challenge @ Sweet Shoppe Designs last month, as well as for Alina’s food layout challenge here on the blog.

Shannon’s recipe called for blocking and scallops to be included, and once I knew what I wanted to scrap I had a good idea of how I wanted those two things to look.  So I made a template for them to get them just how I wanted.  I don’t know about you guys, but I do that a lot when I get a set idea for certain aspects of a page.  I thought they turned out kind of fun, so I decided to carry on and make my first complete page template and use it for my turn here on La’s blog challenge.  I hope you like it and have fun playing with it!

La and the team played and here are the fabo pages they came up with:

by Vanessa

CREDITS: Everything from Pasha by La & Libby Wiefenbach, EXCEPT: Funktified Swirls & Border-Line by La, and the alpha, which I’m not sure on… I’ll have to find out from Vanessa, lol

As you can see, there’s lots of different ways you can use the template, and I’m sure you will think up even more.  I used to freeze up when I first started using templates, and I hated them because I felt like they were forcing me to scrap a page a specific way.  Then I realized I could just use them as a jumping off point, and it was more than okay to make the resulting page very much my own.  Now I love ‘em, because sometimes our mojo needs a big ol’ kick in the butt, and they can be just the thing.  I’ll use one to get me started, and let the page flow from there in whatever direction feels right.  Sometimes they look very close to the template, with a few tweaks on my part, other times the page develops its own personality that completely takes over.

So..

DOWNLOAD IT HERE

get scrapping, get creative and, most importantly, have fun!

(EDIT: Sorry for the bum link, folks, but it should be fixed now.  Let me know if there are any other problems!)

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!  DON’T FORGET!  Be sure to link us up to your finished page in the comments so you have a chance to win some yummy La goodness!  There will be one prize awarded for the challenge this week.

Have fun scrapping and have a fabulous week!

Scrap Your Cause! Blog Challenge

September 15th, 2008

Hi everyone!  Anna (mommy2aria06) here with my first blog challenge!  Woohoo!  Everyday we hear about causes that touch our hearts and make us look beyond our point-of-view.  For this challenge I want you to pick a cause that is important to you- it could be anything from health issues like breast cancer or heart disease to global warming and other social issues- and scrap about the issue or scrap with the colors associated with the cause (like pink for breast cancer or red for heart disease).  As long as a cause is your inspiration feel free to interpret it as you wish.  When you are done link us up in the comment section by Sunday, September 21st so we can leave you love and two winners will be picked to receive a prize.  Below are some layouts by my fellow CT members and our hottie lovin’, QT rockin’ leader, La.

Now find your cause…and scrap it!

:hugs:
