Now, on to this week’s challenge!  Blocking is hot these days, and I have a blocking template for you to play with.  I made this layout for Shannon’s (ZaCola3) Recipe Challenge @ Sweet Shoppe Designs last month, as well as for Alina’s food layout challenge here on the blog.

Shannon’s recipe called for blocking and scallops to be included, and once I knew what I wanted to scrap I had a good idea of how I wanted those two things to look.  So I made a template for them to get them just how I wanted.  I don’t know about you guys, but I do that a lot when I get a set idea for certain aspects of a page.  I thought they turned out kind of fun, so I decided to carry on and make my first complete page template and use it for my turn here on La’s blog challenge.  I hope you like it and have fun playing with it!

La and the team played and here are the fabo pages they came up with:

CREDITS: Everything from Pasha by La & Libby Wiefenbach, EXCEPT: Funktified Swirls & Border-Line by La, and the alpha, which I’m not sure on… I’ll have to find out from Vanessa, lol

As you can see, there’s lots of different ways you can use the template, and I’m sure you will think up even more.  I used to freeze up when I first started using templates, and I hated them because I felt like they were forcing me to scrap a page a specific way.  Then I realized I could just use them as a jumping off point, and it was more than okay to make the resulting page very much my own.  Now I love ‘em, because sometimes our mojo needs a big ol’ kick in the butt, and they can be just the thing.  I’ll use one to get me started, and let the page flow from there in whatever direction feels right.  Sometimes they look very close to the template, with a few tweaks on my part, other times the page develops its own personality that completely takes over.

So..

Scrap Your Cause! Blog Challenge

September 15th, 2008

Hi everyone!  Anna (mommy2aria06) here with my first blog challenge!  Woohoo!  Everyday we hear about causes that touch our hearts and make us look beyond our point-of-view.  For this challenge I want you to pick a cause that is important to you- it could be anything from health issues like breast cancer or heart disease to global warming and other social issues- and scrap about the issue or scrap with the colors associated with the cause (like pink for breast cancer or red for heart disease).  As long as a cause is your inspiration feel free to interpret it as you wish.  When you are done link us up in the comment section by Sunday, September 21st so we can leave you love and two winners will be picked to receive a prize.  Below are some layouts by my fellow CT members and our hottie lovin’, QT rockin’ leader, La.

Now find your cause…and scrap it!

La Devotee in the Spotlight: Emmy!

September 8th, 2008

Lizzy here with my very first La Bloggie Team Post. WOOT WOOT!

Before we dig into our Customer Spotlight, I need to announce the 2 winners from last weeks challenge! The winners are Sara and Diana! Please pm La at SSD to claim your choice of product from her store! YAY! Congrats ladies!

Onto our post today…we are here with one of La’s dedicated customers and long time doodle enthusiast, Emmy Boesch.

{insert applause here}

Hey Emmy…here goes. A little Q & A for ya!

Q. Tell us a little about yourself, outside the digi-world.

A. Well, I’m a mom to 4 boys that are 2, 4, 6, and 8. My husband and I have been married for 14 years. He is one awesome guy - a wonderful father and great husband. We laugh a lot and really enjoy the craziness of our life with 4 little boys. We homeschool as well, so between house and school and kids and just laundry - I keep pretty busy! In addition to scrapping I really love to knit and to read.

Q. Back to digi…how long have you been scrapping?

I started scrapping in paper 8 years ago just before my oldest son was born. My SIL was an avid scrapper at that time and I remember looking over her books and liking the idea of doing a book for my soon-to-be born son. I recall telling myself that I certainly woudln’t spend as much time and money as she had though - I would just do a simple book and be done. HA! I had no idea what I was in for! It’s been an awesome hobby for me and a great creative outlet. More than anything though, I’m so grateful I found scrapping just before my kids were born because I took more pictures and wrote down more journaling that I probably would have thought to do otherwise. I started digi scrapping in May of 2004 and that fueled the obsession even more since I could scrap faster and easier.

Q. How would you describe your scrapping style?

I’m a pretty simple scrapper and not terribly trendy. I really like the photos to be the focus and I try to journal on most pages. I scrap a lot of event pages as well as moments style pages - I’m kind of traditional overall. Sort of a digital Becky Higgins with more stitching and staples than she would ever use.

Q. What is the one embellishment you can’t live without?

Probably a great alpha - I’m really into my alphas.

Q. What made you fall in love with La’s designs?

Lauren’s designs are perfect for kid pages and I do a lot of kid pages! She always has great kits in kid friendly colors with cute artwork and a perfect alpha. Her designs work really well for my pages and they are always really original and fun.

Q. Ok, now we want to see your handywork with some La Designs…show me your 2 fave layouts using La’s products.

Roar! using Dino-riffic!

roar

I Heart My Nerd using Geeks are Hot

i heart

Q. Lastly, show me your very favorite La Grier Product and tell me why it’s your absolute fave.

dino-riffic!!

A. The Dino-riffic! kit is probably my absolute favorite Lauren product! This kit has all the aspects of a perfect kit to me - awesome color palette, cute little dinos, fun alpha AND a perfect stripe paper.

Well, that was fun! Thanks for being with us Emmy and thank you everyone else for reading along with me. :)

Here’s a little gift for hanging out with us today. It was created by August Guest- April! Thank you April!

August 25th, 2008

Good morning scrappers! Today is my daughter’s first day back at school, so if I make a million mistakes in this post please forgive me. I’m a bundle of nerves right now!

Last week Sheana gave us a fabulous first challenge. Thanks to everyone for playing along and creating some smokin’ hot layouts! Our winners are brooke22 with her “Angelina” layout, and VooDoo Brynn’s hottie, “The Doctor“. Congratulations ladies! You can contact Lauren via private message at the Sweet Shoppe with your choice of a product from her store . Thanks so much for playing!

Now on to this week’s challenge. We’ve had a good time drueling over the pages of the newest Ikea catalog and I think you will too. Have a look through the catalog, right here, and be inspired! Scrap a page, link us up in the comments section by Saturday night, August 30 midnight eastern time and tell me what inspired you. Two lucky scrappers will be entered to win a product from Lauren’s store. One by random draw, and one picked by Lauren. Here’s what my fabulous fellow creative team members (and Lauren!) came up with!

From me-

I was flipping through the bedding section and the shelves behind the bed gave me a starting point for my layout.

Anyways.. Here’s a quick peek at what’s coming to the shoppe later tonight/saturday :) It’s way fluffier than normal- I’m pretty sure I’ve never made a kit with quite this pastely feel, but I think it turned out just right and hope you love it too! :) (It actually started with a standard la bold brights & black scheme hahaha.. not sure what happened LOL).

hmm my bloggie is being naughty.. LOL need to add photos the other way.. please hold (because, as usual.. in la’s world.. you’re actually sitting there patiently waiting while I post this, I’m a dork LOL)

and here are some pages :)

Hotties Challenge

August 18th, 2008

Hey Everyone! It’s Sheana here, bringing you some exciting news about the changes that are taking place around here. Lauren has decided to turn her blog over to her creative team, so we’ll be posting here regularly and we have lots of fun things in store for all of you. So, be sure you’re checking in here regularly so that you don’t miss anything.

I’m a challenge junkie. I find that participating in scrapping challenges helps me to “scrap outside the box” and to find inspiration on days where I’m just absolutely mojo-less. So that’s what I’m bringing to you today.. a challenge! There is one key requirement to being on Lauren’s team and I just had to incorporate it into the very first team challenge.. and that is a love for HOTTIES. Lauren has all of her favs.. Leo, Mark, Tory and the list goes on. :o) And for this challenge, I want to see yours!

So your challenge, if you choose to accept is to scrap a page about your favorite Hottie(s). Wanna see what the team came up with?

Of course, no challenge is complete without a prizes. So two lucky scrappers that play along with us will be selected (one by La & one by random draw) to win the product of your choice from Lauren’s shoppe at The Sweet Shoppe.

So for a recap, all you have to do is scrap about your favorite hottie(s), upload your layout to a public gallery and come back here and leave us a comment linking us to your layout by next Sunday (8/24). That’s it!

Happy Scrapping!

Popping in quickly..

August 16th, 2008

We have some exciting changes coming up starting Moooonday (that is if I finish the team pages LOL I will I will.. ) so be sure to check back here on the 18th to see what’s up :)

I do have two  new kits this weekend (woo)..First up is this adorable pet themed scoop Purrfectly Doggone Cute with Christy Lyle

I  just love love how it turned out!! I’m not a big pet scrapper, I do have a cat.. but LOL I dunno, maybe it’s just because he’s a CAT, but he’s moody and I don’t really have nice pics of him haha but I can so see this being used for gobs of pet layouts.  Mikkel Paige also made TWO coordination Abby albums with our kit– one doggie themed and one kitty themed. They are ADORABLE!! Be sure to check them out too :)

I also have a solo kit this week.. It was definately a uh.. labour of love LOL I’ve been seriously sitting on this for about a month… trying to find time and motivation to finish it up.. and FINALLLLLLLLLLLLLY got it done.

Mark it up is all about being unique in yourself, leaving your mark on the world.. and just celebrating who you are individually.. Forget the rest- that is what really matters :)

anyway.. that is all for now. Be sure to come back monday ;) TFL

Have a GREAT weekend!
